The Organisation

Adelaide Venue Management (AVM) is South Australia’s leading provider of venue management services. It is responsible for operating three of Adelaide’s most iconic venues: Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Entertainment Centre, and Coopers Stadium, in addition to functions and events at The Drive.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced part time payroll professional to lead a small team and be a key support for the Corporation in all aspects of payroll.

The Senior Payroll Officer is responsible for administering the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with relevant legislation.

Reporting to the Finance Manager Business Services, the Senior Payroll Officer will work closely with the Finance, People and Operation teams to ensure smooth payroll processing, accurate reporting, and effective communication with employees regarding payroll matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee payroll processing for both Permanent and Enterprise Agreement employees.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian taxation laws, superannuation obligations, Fair Work regulations and the Corporation’s Enterprise Agreement.  
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes to payroll legislation and tax rates to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Maintain and manage the payroll software/system, ensuring its functionality and integration with other HR and accounting systems.
  • Assist with payroll-related audits and the implementation of improvements to payroll processes and systems.
  • Lead and mentor the Payroll Officer, fostering team development and positive working relationships.

Skills you will bring to the role:

  • Experience in a senior payroll position, in a medium to large business environment ideally with knowledge of the Chris21 payroll system.
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll laws, including Fair Work Act, taxation, superannuation, and modern awards.
  • Ability to positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organisation.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in working within the venue management or hospitality industries, would be advantageous.
