Adelaide Venue Management (AVM) is South Australia’s leading provider of venue management services. It is responsible for operating three of Adelaide’s most iconic venues: Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Entertainment Centre, and Coopers Stadium, in addition to functions and events at The Drive.

The Role

Reporting to the Utilities and Housekeeping Manager, the Kitchen Steward - Casual, plays a vital behind-the-scenes role in supporting the successful delivery of exceptional events. You will be responsible for ensuring kitchen operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in line with the highest hygiene standards. This hands-on role is perfect for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being part of a collaborative team, and thrives in a fast-paced, event-driven environment. 

Key Responsibilities:

As a vital member of the team, you will contribute to the seamless delivery of events by:

  • Ensuring the kitchen and surrounding areas are clean and hygienic at all times
  • Setting up serveries for a variety of events and functions
  • Operating modern dishwashing equipment to clean crockery, cutlery, and glassware
  • Monitoring and replenishing kitchen crockery, utensils, and supplies as needed
  • Supporting team members to meet organisational and service delivery goals
  • Cleaning all kitchen-related equipment, including food trolleys, to the highest standard
  • Mopping and sanitising dishwashing and access areas in line with WHS requirements
  • Ensuring all utensils and kitchen tools are thoroughly cleaned, stacked, and stored correctly
  • Performing additional cleaning of hard-to-wash items to maintain a 5-star cleanliness standard
  • Storing all clean items in their designated locations while upholding strict hygiene practices
  • Adhering to ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System requirements
  • Assisting with other stewarding and kitchen operations as needed to ensure smooth service

  • Proven ability to follow hygiene and safety standards
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Reliability and the ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Physical stamina to handle a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Basic understanding of food safety practices (or willingness to learn)
  • Willingness to take direction and contribute to a positive team culture
  • Flexibility to work across a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends
